Beginner Beading Workshop

Thank you to everyone who attended the Beginner Beading Workshop last Friday! I hope you are enjoying your new, handmade pair of earrings and bracelet. Now that you've gotten your feet wet, keep practicing those loops and twists. Remember to "keep your head up"...no droopy loops people!!

Sarah's awesome earrings...that I might need to borrow. I don't have pierced ears either, but that doesn't stop us from making jewelry!

Great job! See you all next time!

DIY: Fabric Flower Shoe Clips

The Jewelbox Ballerina is one of my personal favorite websites for all things handmade and girly. Her crafts are amazing and her tutorials are very easy to follow. Her drool worthy photographs send me running into my craft room every time.

I recently found a brilliant step-by-step eBook on her site for how to decorate your shoes using handmade flowers and a pair of clip-on earring backs! The cost is $15, but the book describes how to make 2 different types of flowers - a rolled rose and a cabbage rose - as well as how to combine them into one show stopping, hybrid super-flower. You can click here for the Fabric Flower Shoe Clips eBook...or try the project for free on The Green Wedding.

Both tutorials generally use the same method, however The Green Wedding features not only floral elements, but cute bows as well! I know I have a lot of un-pretty flats in my closet that could use a little sprucing up. This seems like a fun way to go :)

Beginner Beading & Wire Workshop

On Friday, March 16th from 5-7pm I will be hosting the first in a series of beading workshops! I am hoping to develop "Jewelry with Jamillah" into a weekly class, something Sarah and I have been discussing for a while. This coming Friday night, my students will be making a bracelet and earrings set ~ which is so simple and easy (once they get the hang of it) that they will wear it home by the end of class! I'm putting in the order for some new tools now, so folks better bring their A-game, because working with wire versus working with ribbon flowers is a whole new experience!
